My love for languages really kicked off in high school. I was studying English and German at the time, but the language that really interested me was Japanese. My interest in Japan originated from my love for video games in my young days – video games that were made in that strange and fascinating country on the other side of the world.
I therefore entered Stockholm University to study Japanese, and that later gave me the chance to actually go study at Kyoto University in Japan for a year, through a scholarship given by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). After a year in Japan, the level of my Japanese was at a good enough place to pass the highest level of the Japanese Proficiency Test (JLPT).
After getting my bachelor’s degree in Japanese back home, I started studying Translation studies at the graduate level at the Institute for Interpreting and Translation Studies at Stockholm University. I got my Master’s degree (two years) in Translation studies in June 2015. Since then, I have been working as a freelance translator while keeping my old part-time job in a grocery store. In my free time, I enjoy playing games, reading books, and traveling around the world.
